THE RESTORATION PROJECT AND RELOCATION OF THE OF THE STATUE OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES AT MARYHAVEN HAS ENTERED PHASE II.
In Phase I of the project, Funds were raised to repair and relocate the statue to a site on the grounds of St Charles Hospital.

The call to help was answered and Saint Charles Hospital has set aside a spot on its grounds for the relocation that insures easy access and a place of honor.

Phase II includes the coordination and organization of all parties involved in the repair and relocation and scheduling to move the statue. Permits are in place and the scheduling of the move and volunteer coordination is almost complete.

In Phase III, the statue will be unveiled at a dedication ceremony on a date to be announced.

THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ITALIAN STUDIES ENDOWMENT CHAIR AT STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY.
The Brookhaven UNICO Chapter, in conjunction with UNICO National, and the UNICO Foundation were all instrumental in the establishment of the first-in-the-country Italian Studies Chair named to honor former United States Senator Alfonse D'Amato, and extremely supportive of Stony Brook University in it’s fund raising efforts. UNICO’s Brookhaven, NY chapter served as the initiator of this chair’s fund raising.

The endowment of this professorship in Italian-American Studies will allow students to gain a better appreciation for the Italian-American experience, and preserve its rich cultural legacy for future generations.

BROOKHAVEN UNICO HAS PLEDGED TO FUND CONSTRUCTION OF A HOSPICE ROOM AT GOOD SHEPHERD HOSPICE IN PORT JEFFERSON.
The Brookhaven Chapter has raised $20,000 to fund construction of a room at the newly constructed hospice. This fundraising effort was a five year commitment now in its final year.
